Research Focus
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Worachest Pirompugd’s research centers on heat and mass transfer in fin-and-tube heat exchangers, with particular attention to how surface wetting under dehumidifying conditions changes fin efficiency and exchanger performance. His work has produced widely cited reduction methods — including the finite circular fin method — for predicting heat and mass transfer in plain and wavy fin-and-tube exchangers, along with correlations for the wet surface ratio these systems exhibit under partial and full condensation. This sits at the intersection of fluid mechanics, thermal engineering, and refrigeration/air-conditioning equipment design, matching his listed expertise in fluid mechanics, heat transfer, two-phase flow, and heat exchangers.
